- Logistics and shipping run by Ateliers Sans Frontières, a rehabilitation association
TRANSPARENCY IS THE FUTURE.
VEJA is launching the new Campo, Rio Branco and Nova in 2019 to offer an alternative to VEJA’s leather models. They are made of different innovative materials such as B-Mesh, C.W.L (bio-sourced material from corn waste), synthetic suede and organic cotton. For the spring-summer 2019 collection, 40% of VEJA models are vegan. Developed by an Italian company, C.W.L. is a bio-sourced material, made from waxed canvas with 50% corn waste from the food industry. This bio-sourced fabric is biodegradable. Its look and touch are comparable to leather. Innovative, resilient and vegan, this fabric is a genuine leather alternative.
B-mesh (bottle-mesh) is a fabric that is 100% made from recycled polyester (polyethylene terephthalate or P.E.T). It makes it both light, breathable and waterproof. This fabric is made in Santo Andre, Brazil from recycled plastic bottles that are collected, sorted and transformed into plastic flakes. The flakes turn into polyester fiber after extrudation. It takes 3 plastic bottles to make a pair of VEJA sneakers.
In the heart of the Amazonian Forest, seringueiros harvest the wild rubber we use to manufacture the soles of our sneakers. They bleed the rubber trees with a traditional technique and obtain natural latex from it. Ateliers Sans Frontières manages the logistics since the beginning of the project and helps rehabilitation through work to people that are excluded by giving them a job, social and personnalized help, constructing with them a professionnal project.
It is increasingly important to be fashionable in a right way, we can start helping our world just by buying items that reflect nature and the environment and, above all, by buying from companies that help people rehabilitate themselves, I really recommend you www.veja.com
